The Adventure Begins...

Well this is my first venture into the world of 'blogging' so please bear with me folks as I will be learning as I go :) My lovely son has set this up for me but alas won't be on hand during my travels for tech support. This could be a disaster ha ha! Anyhoooooo, we shall plow on regardless. Tomorrow is the start of my 5 week Artistic Retreat (read 'running away from home'). My Aunty has very kindly allowed me to stay at her seaside cottage in a tiny little town on the Sth East coast of Tasmania called Nubeena. Nubes to the locals. She, very wisely, is wintering in sunny Darwin while I on the other hand will be looking like a little old Russian peasant woman as I rug up under layers of warm clothing. I have dreamt of doing this for years and finally have this small window of opportunity to make it happen. I will be living and breathing my art with no interruptions. Yahooooo! I will either flourish or perish? Either way it should be an interesting journey so feel free to come along for the ride via this bloggy thingy. I don't think I have gone soooo long without a canine companion before and I shall miss "The Pack" desperately. Oh and I'm sure I'll miss the humans too! No doubt there will be a meltdown at about.... hmmmmmm.... day 3? But I will be expecting it and will just deal with it and move on!!! (she says confidently, but is really quaking in her boots) Those of you who know me well will understand that this is a HUGE leap of faith for me but I am determined to give it my best shot :)
My bags have been packed, unpacked and packed again as I try to decide on what art equipment to take. I have a weight limit of 35kgs so the easel will have to stay home (poo!) and I will probably be culling stuff again tomorrow as I try to close my suitcases. Thank goodness for 'spacebags' at least I can suck down my wool, yarns and silks etc
to a smaller size to fit.
One thing I will miss is my wonderful Broomstick. I love my tryke and I will have to get used to walking again. The positive is that it will give me more opportunity to see and collect my windfall treasures as I walk along. I have made myself a windfall collecting smock from an old nighty I have Eco-printed. I've added pockets made from old doilies and placemats so I should look a hoot! Haha oh well, should give the locals something to chat about :)
Tomorrow will be a day of frantic last minute packing then a long night on the 'Red-Eye' flight to Hobart
