The weather has been bit miserable last few days but still so nice to be sitting by the window stitching quietly away by the warmth of the heater.
I read in one of India Flint books where she recommends sewing a garment by hand from scratch even if you only ever do it once as it gives you a sense of value of a garment. Which can only be a good thing I think in this age of 'throw-away' fashion. Anyway, I thought how tedious, hand stitching all those seams etc but I've found this to be quite the opposite :) It's actually a very satisfying and enjoyable process. I've completed the pin-tucking on the front and side/back seams and shall hopefully finish the neck facings today. Mind you I can't imagine how our pioneering women clothed their whole families with their needles and thread whilst also caring for children feeding them and working on the land etc? Gosh talk about time management skills!
The weather is beginning to fine up again and I hear it should stay that way for the weekend. I will be out and about again to collect more foliage for printing and I want to finish the shibori style T-shirt dyeing too.
